What Worries You, Masters You

“What worries you, masters you.” – Hadden W Robinson. Humans have advanced so much over the years. In the past century, we have seen the introduction of the car, the aeroplane and even space travel. We have the technology to cure diseases that years ago would have killed a large portion of the population. As advanced as we humans seem to be, it is amazing at how we still allow things that have yet to happen worry us.
We allow ourselves to worry about all sorts of problems until they become our master. We play them over and over in our heads like a continuous CD. Does this sound familiar?

I once heard the definition of worry as “The negative use of the imagination.” What we worry about hasn’t happened yet. So to “see” it, and worry about it, we have to imagine it.

So why do we imagine the future in negative ways? That becomes worry and it will slowly destroy us!

What are some positive ways to change this?

If worry is the negative use of the imagination, then we want to do the exact opposite. When you begin to worry about something, recognize that you are imagining a bad outcome. Instead, begin to imagine and describe the picture of what it would look like if the situation came out GOOD instead! Then begin to act on those things that you saw in the positive use of your imagination!

Hi Brenda, I know from my past experiences in my own life, that no good ever came from worrying about it. The outcome was always as it should have been, even if I thought it was not in my own best interests. I love the saying – “Things turn out best for the people who make the best of the way things turn out”.
That saying alone tells me that – no matter what my circumstances are, to make the best of it (& that means good & bad).
Hope things are going great for you & Ross, what with kids gone overseas. Really enjoying your website. Well Done. Love Trish
