The life you have now is a reflection of your inner world. When you make inner changes, your life automatically changes or at least your perceptions of what is happening changes.
If there is something in your life at present causing you anxiety or Unhealthy Fear, you need to make a decision. You can continue to allow it to dominate your life or you can stop resisting and let yourself feel the fear. To allow this, move your attention by using meditation, concentrated deep breathing and positive self-talk. Be aware of any resistance you are feeling to this change. There may be thoughts which enter your head which highlight previous attempts to change your situation. This is when you can change the environment you are in by either becoming physically active or when those thoughts enter your head, say out loud – STOP. These steps are useful when you are experiencing a fear suddenly.
After this initial feeling of Unhealthy Fear has been recognized, there are a number of steps you can take:
- Relax you body. Often a warm bath followed be a meditation session may help.
- Concentrated breathing where you concentrate on the breath going into and out of your body. Focus on the air entering all the cells in your body. Energy and peace flowing in, and stress and tension being exhaled with your out breath.
- Make a decision that it is fine to feel fear, but do not allow this feeling alone be the basis of your decision making.
- Feel and see the positive outcome you want to achieve from this. Recall a time from your past when you have previously overcome a difficulty. Remember those feelings, see what you saw at this time, hear what you heard, become emotionally aware of what it felt like when you had made the decision. Then allow those feelings and sights to give you a different perspective to the situation you are currently experiencing.
Once you have made your decision, AND ACTED on it, you will find your anxiety will disappear or at the very least lessen considerably. You have nothing to fear except fear itself!
